Monthly Meeting – April

We invite you to join us for our Playful University Club Monthly Meeting, titled “Are we entering the age of play?”, on Wednesday 28th April at 12pm midday, where we are delighted to announce Professor Alison James as this month’s speaker!

Professor Alison James is a National Teaching Fellow, Principal Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy, LEGO Serious Play facilitator and professional coach. She is known internationally for her creative and playful approaches to teaching, staff and educational development as a senior leader within higher education institutions since 1990. Additionally, as an academic consultant and speaker she has published two books: Engaging imagination: helping students become creative and reflective thinkers (2014, with Professor Stephen Brookfield) and The Power of Play: creativity in tertiary learning (2019, with Dr Chrissi Nerantzi). Since December 2019, Alison has been focusing on a scholarship project exploring the value of play in higher education, funded by the Imagination Lab foundation.

Her talk will be an exploration of play in learning, covering all aspects of our lives where she will share the findings from her research and the lessons learned through participating in different kinds of play over the last year.

These monthly meetings are open to everyone and will be informal meetings with invited speakers and guests with the aim to support a compassionate community using play.
